it's been a long, long time.

(Photo: Grandma being a rockstar.)

hey err'body, well i've been busy.

so now i'm back in the saddle again, which mean
s...the blog is back in business.

first off, what i've been up to lately...wednesday, the family had a tourist-y day. we left brianna's house, ate at brooklyn bagel then headed downtow
n. spent the afternoon in chi-town, little italy, soho (rice to riches. yum!), the les (katz's deli), etc. after a long day on our feet, we headed back to brianna's and watched the american idol results show (THANK GOD SYESHA'S GONE AND MY TWO DAVID'S ARE LEFT) and top chef (we like richard...antonia and dale are kinda ok too).

thursday, i had my hr meeting for lulu (kick-starting my training with them. i look forward to it, i hope everything works out!) while the fam went to costco. they stocked up on EVERYTHING for me (which is great, because i
had officially run out of well, everything). i met them at henri bendel on 5th av, we headed to columbus circle for some jamba juice and groceried at whole foods (we made dinner that nite at my house...shrimp stir fry with loads of veggies and brown rice. oh yea, and lots of wine. can i just say, brianna bought this amazing moscato. couldn't get enough of it.)

then today was baccalaureate and graduation!!!! got up around 630, headed to st. paul church of the apostle, met sara and tone and did our thing. then the fam went to le pain quotidien in lincoln square (i had this really yummy organic quinoa salad with enoki mushrooms and sprouts...awesome. and they have this amazing praline spread that tastes like a peanut buttery version of nutella). after we ate, the weather took a nasty turn (it went from lite rain to RAIN) and it was a bitch to catch a cab (and find a restaurant for that matter), so we headed back to my house.

of course, we ended up at yuka, my favorite local sushi place. it was...amazing. then dad, after a good amount of sake and beer, suggested we go get a drink somewhere because he didn't want to go home yet. haah. we ended up at vero, i had some more moscato, we
had some more fun, then we came home.

tomorrow, i've got rehearsal. brittany comes in really early. we're gonna do my graduation dinner at shelley's and try to hit serendipity as well. sunday, we've got tix to passing strange and i've got rehearsal. and next week, the family
leaves and i have hardcore rehearsals and lulu training.

ok, some more catch-up. there's this fenced-in area by brianna's house where we found this stray cat the other day. we came back to bring him food and water (luckily there's an overhang so the rain won't ruin the food), and i had to think twice before calling a non-euthanizing shelter to come pick him up....he's an adult cat (he? i have no idea), so it'd be harder to get him adopted...and if he's able to survive this well (he was healthy-sized), ma
ybe it's better if we just let him alone and give him food/water as much as we can. it made me sad, but i felt like it was the better choice.

some more news...the reason why brittany had to
delay her trip in the first place was because she was going in to see producers for an abc lawyer show, then went in to see producers for another abc show called "five year plan", THEN had to go in for the head of fox for another show. brittany. she's so hot right now. haha.

anyway, this happens every time britt books a trip somewhere (whether it's a family vacation or someone's graduation or whatnot), so we usu
ally hope she keeps missing trips because then she keeps booking things!

lite mention...upon seeing the snapshot of obama and edwards arm-in-arm..."now that's a hell of a ticket." in my dreams!

can i just rant for a second about how all the contestants on top chef this year have attitude problems? just cut it out. bring back sam.

(Tom: "I love you, Sam." Sam: "I love me, too.")

next off, i'm recently loving gavin creel and mark ballas. gavin creel is a re-obsession (hello! millie in 2002!!) but just the same...they're both great and talented and i love them.

long entry, i know. but to end, i wanted to share some tony thoughts...firstly, "eh" about whoopi as host. bring back hugh jackman. does anyone else think it's weird that half of the best musical nominees seem like poor-man's tony nominees? maybe i'm just a snob. it almost feels like it's a better year for plays than musicals as far as producing pieces that have originality and substance, as well as entertainment value.

still really want to see south pacific. LOVE how young frank was snubbed for the major awards. don't think it deserved anything besides chris fitzgerald, andrea martin and some creative elements (as much as i love roger and sutton. i'm practically their surrogate theatrical lovechild if that's possible). that's pretty much it. but all in all, it's weird that this is the first year where i'm not crazy excited for the show--i don't have any shows i'm really rooting for, and i think that says something in itself.

and on an artistic tangent, i had to write something that melissa told me a couple weeks ago (melissa hart, broadway vet, my voice teacher, overall amazing woman). she said there are something like 100,000 actors living in new york city and on average, only about 2% of that population constitutes working actors. mind-blowing and scary. but it also puts things into perspective. if you don't work for it, it won't likely fall in your lap. so i realized, as i'm graduating, that if i don't capitalize on the transition i'm going through right now, i'm gonna lose a narrow window of opportunity. i've already got a momentum going and i need to keep the ball rolling. so many people get lax after graduation and keep putting things off and off and off. but for me, i can't just put my life off like that...i'm gonna play the game hard right now and see what happens!

i like graduating,
brooke
