misc. musings

today at graceful market by my house, the asian girl who checked me out said something that sounded like "nightnight".

upon further scrutiny, i think she must've said something as simple as "good night," but for some odd reason i heard "nightnight" and now i'm convinced that that is what she said.

..

i love health food bars.

my friend alisha from lulu turned me onto the luna bar protein in chocolate peanut butter and cookie dough.

they're like biting into a chocolate covered log of peanut butter and cookie dough, respectively. HEAVEN.

i also bought this macro bar that i'm curious to bite into. i hope it's good.

favorite bars of all time:
*kashi go lean bars (malted chocolate crisp, cookies n' creme, chocolate almond toffee)
*greens+ bars (regular and dark chocolate covered)
*lara bars (tropical fruit tart, coconut creme pie, chocolate coconut)
*pure food bars (chocolate brownie, cherry cashew)
*zone perfect double dark chocolate, dark chocolate caramel pecan

...

can someone please tell me why i found myself wandering to stogo at 10pm after work tonite? i left with a small (delicious) cup of chocolate chip cookie non-dairy frozen amazingness.

and it was 20-something degrees outside.

i'll leave you with this utterly wonderful experience. please do what you can to contribute.

erica and i got bored at work today. so we thought of the various ways we could enact "fake killing" people (in a completely silly, cartoonish way, of course):

*ninja STAR!
*knife to the THROAT!
*rope HANG!
*lasso GRIP!
*SPEARED!
*PPPHHHT! (poison dart)
*bow and ARROW!
*dagger JAB!
*machine GUUNNN!
*cowboy gun PULL!

if i was a station on pandora, i'd be SARA BAREILLES or GAVIN DEGRAW.

on a side note, i remembered the other day when i got the phone call to go back in for hair. i was outside of my building in stuytown and stopped dead in my tracks, mouth agape when i heard the news. then i walked around the corner and sat on that bench facing the kid's playground and called mom.

then a few days later, after i'd gone in for the audish, i was at the tea spot talking to mom about my disappointment in not getting asked to come back for them that monday. as soon as i got off the phone with mom, i had a voicemail from jordan at the public. i was sitting at my little table, crowded in between non-caring nyu-ers, drinking my pumpkin creme tea and i was again bewildered and befuddled.

i have to remember to remember moments like those. because in that space of time, i exist in a completely grounded, yet ecstatic kind of reality. and i think it's possible to always live in that place.

et cetera, et cetera

did some good work on my mono in class tonite--
except i was distracted because i looked like a pale, fat lesbian on camera. that was a first. and definitely not a good look for me.

i just realized that i described rosie o'donnell.

i love making lists.
i'm one of those people (girls?) who buys those "my life in lists" books...you've seen them, "the book of us--in lists"..."my favorite (and not so favorite) things--in lists"..."some things that i might have liked at some point, but just want to make a list of--in lists"...and so forth.

i seriously contemplated buying this one today:

http://listography.com/static/books/tour_5.html

weird that i preferred the kid version to the adult one?

i convinced myself that i didn't NEED this book as a blog like the one i am currently writing in is the perfect (free) vehicle for those very lists.

henceforth, i bring you an abbreviation:

if you could be friends with anyone, list who:
*obama, joseph gordon levitt (add "boy" to "friend"), jennifer garner, paul rudd...

list why you wouldn't date yourself:
*i fall asleep with my contact lenses in, without brushing my teeth or washing my face, with the lights left on...far too often than i'd care to admit

list your top favorite female vocalists of all time:
*sara bareilles, adele, zooey deschanel (she & him), jane monheit, audra mcdonald, sutton foster, sara ramirez, rachael yamagata, fiona apple, joss stone, eva cassidy. of course, my mom.

list the things you like to do on your day off:
*sleep in a little, have a leisurely breakfast that is both wholesome and satisfying, drink a lot of tea, go to a book store or coffee shop/tea place and just SIT. favorite? the tea spot off of washington square park. sing songs. journal. catch up on dvr (idol and snl), watch movies or see a movie (yes, popcorn. maybe, a large). wear my robe and glasses. maybe go to dance class.

non-sequitor note: i really do love kombucha. all things green tea. anything coconut. i've as of late been OBSESSED with coconut. coconut water. coconut milk ice cream and yogurt. coconut milk shampoo and conditioner (alba...it's amAHzing. and earth friendly). coconut body scrub. coconut cookies. tea.

i guess you could say i'm...coo coo...for...coconut..? (lame)

i've been starting to write the traces of a screenplay for the past year now. keywords: "starting" and "traces". it's semi-autobiographical (meaning it's actually 100% autobiographical) and i've gone about it in a different sort of way..

i've found my musical inspiration first and written the story around the songs i've compiled. weird, but it works strangely. remember that email chain a year or so ago that was all "the soundtrack to your life...put your itunes on shuffle and see what pops up!"? i guess that was the inspiration for my inspiration, if you will.

whatever. but it's terribly exciting for me and it's so much more colorful and imaginative that way. i've labeled my story as "a quirky, musical love adventure." which is suitably suited, i think.

sneak peak at song highlights:

american idol. i would venture to say i'm a professional watcher of american idol. if american idol was a field of science, i would be an expert. i can nail to a "t" who will last, who won't last...and i've named at least the top 2 every year, no joke.

so i was very much surprised this eve when maddy curtis got cut in hollywood week. she could have EASILY been in the top 12. easy.

she's not a personal fave, but according to my magical idol formula she was a shoe-in. whatevs.

when i auditioned as akiko, she went immediately before me so i was in the room when she sang and got her critique, etc. i had a funny feeling going thru the process that she was gonna do pretty well...

we'll see how good my skillz truly are in the next few weeks, i guess.

that's it for now. peace.
